On August 21, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi co-chaired the first Conference of China-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue Mechanism with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono in Jakarta. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views and reached broad consensus on promoting the building of a China-Indonesia community with a shared future.

Wang Yi stated that establishing the Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue Mechanism is an important step for both sides to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, and to advance the building of a China-Indonesia community with a shared future that carries regional and global influence. This mechanism will provide vital institutional support for deepening bilateral cooperation across the “five pillars”. The current international situation is marked by growing turbulence and uncertainty, with unilateralism and hegemonic practices seriously impacting global security and development. As Indonesia continues to advance toward the 2045 Golden Indonesia vision and China accelerates its path to modernization through high-quality development, it is timely for China and Indonesia, as major developing countries, to strengthen strategic communication and deepen strategic cooperation, which carries important and far-reaching significance beyond bilateral relations. China has always placed Indonesia in an important position in its diplomacy, particularly its neighborhood diplomacy.  China is ready to work with Indonesia, guided by the strategic consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo Subianto, to enhance mutual understanding and support, and to ensure a successful first Conference of the Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue Mechanism. Both sides should scale up all-round cooperation, pool greater synergy for development, jointly address risks and challenges, and facilitate the modernization processes of both countries.
